The Social Media Reset you Actually Have Time for
A few weeks ago, I spoke at a conference for aesthetic nurses in Newcastle about how to optimise your social media.
When I was planning the talk, I asked the organisers what these nurses really needed help with. As in, what would be the single most useful thing I could give them (apart from my services… obviously).
Their answer was so simple it stopped me in my tracks.
They didn’t want to go viral. They weren’t trying to become influencers. They just wanted to reach a few new people, the kind of people who’d actually book in for a treatment. And right now, they felt like they were putting time and energy into posting, and getting very little back.
So I said, right, we can do that.
I put together a short, practical presentation with a few small shifts that actually make a big difference on social media. No jargon, no fluff, no false promises, just stuff that works.
It went down well (yay).
And so, because I’m me (and because I love a lead magnet almost as much as I love making friends with aesthetics nurses who I can hit up for Botox when the time comes), I shared a post on Instagram asking if anyone else in that industry might be interested in the presentation.
They were. And seeing those comments roll in, I realised the most basic truth. Small business owners don’t need another overcomplicated strategy. They just need simple, time-efficient, cost-effective direction.
Because you don’t have spare hours to act like a full-time social media manager. You’re busy actually doing the work you’re good at… running services, managing clients, baking the cakes, whatever it is.
And actually, same.
I’m a full-time marketer and even I struggle to make time to market my own business. We’re all in the trenches together, even the professionals.
So after the conference, I adapted that presentation into something that works for any small business owner, founder, or freelancer. Whatever your niche is, you can apply it.
